The University of South Carolina Gamecocks football team is a member of the NCAA Division I FBS and competes in the Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division. South Carolina began football operations in 1892 with a game against Furman. That same year the Gamecocks began wearing garnet and black uniforms. The Gamecocks won the SEC East in 2010 and played in the SEC Football Championship Game against Auburn.
